Bunbury Swimmer Wins Medals for Australia at the Oceania Asia Games

Back in August, Sport Inclusion Australia announced the team to represent Australia at the 2022 Virtus Oceania Asia Games in Brisbane. Bunbury Swimming Club swimmer, Bel Dabic, was one of 41 swimmers selected nationally, to join the Virtus Australian Swimming Team.

The Virtus Oceania Asia Games is a part of the international Virtus event, and this year marks the first time it's held in a region, Oceania Asia region. The regional event for elite athletes with intellectual impairment, was held from the 5th to 11th of November.

Bel, coached by Adam Cowie, is a swimmer with an S19 classification, who is diagnosed with autism. The 15-year-old had a very successful three days of competition, swimming in six events and finishing with three bronze medals, two silver medals, a gold medal and four personal best times.

Lee Dabic, Bel's mother, shared that "she has very much enjoyed being part of the Virtus Australian Swim Team. Big thanks to Virtus and Sport Inclusion Australia for organising such a wonderful event. The joy and excitement for so many kids here at the games was hearting warming to watch."
