Duel in the Pool set to ignite the Pathway to Paris!

05 August 2021

Swimming WA is pleased to announce the 2021 WA Duel in the Pool. Following the recent cancellation of the 2021 State Team Championships, Swimming WA will run this event in its place.

The innovative and exciting event will place athletes in a high pressure and fast paced competition similar to what athlete’s experience at the State Team Championships.

With the ongoing disruptions of COVID-19, Swimming WA is pleased with the continued development and hard work of Clubs, Coaches and Athletes. Swimming WA has developed this concept to recognise their efforts as well as assisting in the development of high-pressure racing skills in a meaningful and engaging manner.

Swimming WA Competition and Performance Manager, Ben Harvey said “the duel in the pool will ensure WA athlete development is not impacted by the ongoing issues surrounding COVID-19”.

Harvey continued “with the fantastic results at the April Bonanza, WA athletes have continued to impress with their resilience and determination to succeed. The likes of Iona Anderson and Sylvia Czajko have shown being the best in Australia is achievable regardless of the location.”

The competition will take place at Christchurch Grammar from Monday, 4 October to Thursday 7October with athletes and coaches training, living, and competing on campus.

The team will be selected as per normal at the 2021 WA State Short Course Championships. The selection criteria can be found here, 2021 Duel in the Pool | Swimming WA with more information set to be released in the coming days.
