Welcome to our New Elite Series Athletes

The Elite Series is a high-performance category that will award the best Open Water Swimmer in WA. This exciting new concept will help elevate the status of Open Water Swimming in Western Australia, as we strive to be the destination of choice for Open Water Swimming in Australia and around the world. By combining the best open water swimmers from across WA into this Elite Series we hope will provide you with the best preparation for the Open Water Nationals to be held in Busselton from the 25th to the 28th of January.

The Elite will compete in the following races:

  • Leighton- 7.5km (State Championships)
  • Sorrento- 5km (State Championships)
  • Bunbury- 10km (State Championships)
  • Mullaloo- 10km
  • City to Scarb – 5km
  • Marina Mile – 1.6km

Our General Manager of Competitive Pathways, Ben Harvey says, "It's very exciting to announce the new Elite Series participants as it will provide an increase in competition among our top open water swimmers across the state".

All swimmers must follow FINA rules (including wetsuit requirements) and will be awarded points in the same way as the public distances with 1st receiving 50 points x kilometers completed, decreasing by 5 for each place after that with 25th receiving 1 point. All Elite swimmers will compete in their club swimming cap.
