Perc was doing what he loved most, sharing a coffee with his friends following a training session at Claremont Pool when he collapsed and was unable to be revived.
Perc had just returned from the Alice Springs Masters Games where he won 12 Gold medals from 12 starts. In addition he set 9 State records in the process. These records added to his already long list of achievements in the pool.
Perc was a highly respected and admired member of the Western Australian swimming community contributing both as a competitor and official. He will be remembered for his over 20 years tireless service and was a true character of the sport.
He was a Life Member of the Claremont Masters Swimming Club and was actively involved at all aspects of the sport volunteering at club, state and national events both at the pool and at open water events.
Swimming WA would like to acknowledge the enormous contribution made to the sport by Perc Edwards and would like to advise that a short tribute will be made at the Hancock Family Medical Foundation Distance Meet on Sunday morning prior to the start of the meet.
