The Board of Swimming Victoria has appointed Commercial Property and Finance Executive Daniel Burger as the President of Swimming Victoria after long serving President Geoff Hare resigned from the position last night.
The timing of the decision was in line with the Board’s agreed succession plan allowing Swimming Victoria to transition smoothly as the organisation prepares to reset its strategic plan for the next four years.
The Swimming Victoria Board acknowledges Hare’s long standing commitment to the sport and looks forward to him continuing as a member of the Board and as a Technical Official.
A Director on Swimming Victoria’s Board for the past four years, Burger will bring with him a sound knowledge of the sport along with key financial and business skills which Burger has developed over many years in the commercial property sector.
In one of his first roles as President, Burger thanked his fellow Directors for their support and looks forward to working with Swimming Victoria members and key stakeholders to review and set organisational priorities moving forward.
“The next four years will be an exciting phase for swimming both in and out of the pool and I welcome the opportunity to help grow and improve the sport," said Burger.
Burger will commence duties immediately and looks forward to seeing many Swimming Victoria members at the upcoming Victorian Age Championships in December.
The Swimming Victoria Board is as follows:
Daniel Burger – President, Jason D’Cruz, Rahmin De Kretser, Geoff Hare OAM, David McDonald, Robyn Miller, Adrian Radley, Ted Tullberg and Damian Van De Berg.
