Following the success of last year’s season opener event, the Labor Day long weekend will host the penultimate round of the 2012-2013 Swimming WA Open Water Series at Rockingham Foreshore on Monday 4th March.
Round 7 – consisting of a 500m, 1.25km, 2.5km and 5km open water swim is a great way to keep fit and enjoy the scenic offerings of the Perth’s southern suburbs.
As the series draws to a close, the last two rounds will see World Championship team member Simon Huitenga attempt to chase down overall series leader Paul Laver for a chance to take the title. In the women’s division, Australian Open Water age group champion Sacha Downing has her work cut out as she tries to hold off Olympian Heidi Gan to be crowned series winner.
With over $1500 in prize money for the top male and female swimmers of the overall series, the Rockingham round is set to go off with a bang.
Entries for Round 7 - Rockingham close at 5:00pm Wednesday 27th February. Click below to enter, or go to www.openwaterswimming.com.au for further information.
