WA Age Swimmers Impress in Brisbane

Western Australian swimmers have topped off a fantastic meet in Brisbane with three athletes and one coach being selected for the Australian team heading to the FINA Junior World Swimming Championships.

Western Australian swimmers have topped off a fantastic meet in Brisbane with three athletes and one coach being selected for the Australian team heading to the FINA Junior World Swimming Championships.

 

Jemima Horwood (UWA West Coast, coach Mick Palfery), Taj Jones (St Hilda’s, coach Deb Jones) and Jasmine Hopkins (Busselton, coach Brooke Kemp) will be heading to America in August. Western Australian Institute of Sport coach Mick Palfery will also be joining the squad.

 

Western Australian athletes were extremely successful at the Championships with numerous athletes featuring on the podium and swimming personal bests. Notable performances included TJ Chong Sue (UWA West Coast, coach Michael Shaw), Josh Edwards-Smith (UWA West Coast, coach Michael Shaw), Lauren Gastevich (Arena, coach Carey Martin) and Kate Harrison (St Hilda’s, coach Deb Jones).

 

The UWA West Coast swim club was the most successful Western Australian club at the Championships finishing fourth on the points score, and Breakers also finished in 17th overall.
