  • WHS Act Changes: How it effects your club
  • This workshop will outlines the primary duty that organisations employing workers and engaging volunteers have under the Work Health and Safety Act.

It will explain in easy to understand language how to meet this duty.

    Who must comply?

If you do not employ anyone and everyone in the club are without payment or financial reward (they may receive out of pocket expenses) the law still recognises volunteers as workers. Volunteer clubs do not fall under the WHS Act but it is a good idea to comply with the general WHS duties.

If you pay anyone to carry out work your club and the volunteers it engages are covered under the WHS Act and therefore you have work health and safety duties.

This workshop will be run by Safety Solutions WA who are a Western Australian based workplace health and safety consultancy engaged by Swimming WA to assist clubs to understand:

    • Duties under the Work Health & Safety Act
    • What are the changes and how it will affect you?
    • Penalties and Breaches
