2019/20 Swimming WA Ambassador Announcement

31 October 2019

Swimming WA is proud to announce their Ambassadors for the 2019/20 season; Brianna Throssell, Ashton Brinkworth and Joshua Hofer OAM.

All three athletes are extremely influential figures within the Swimming WA community and bring a level of professionalism and enthusiasm that will greatly benefit all Clubs and Members.

Returning for his second year as a Swimming WA ambassador is Josh Hofer OAM (Perth City) after an incredible first year in the role. Hofer, a five-time Paralympic Gold Medallist has been a familiar face within the Swimming WA community for many years. Throughout his tenure as a Swimming WA Ambassador, many of the association's clubs have been lucky enough to have been visited by Hofer who often brings his Paralympic medals as well as his can-do attitude.

Joining Hofer for the first time as an ambassador is Brianna Throssell (UWA-West Coast, c: Michael Palfery, WAIS). Throssell, a 2016 Olympian and the Lyn McClements Swimmer of the Year in 2015, 2016 and 2018, has been a shining star within the Swimming WA community for many years. From an outstanding age group swimmer to one of the best swimmers in Australia, Throssell is a mainstay on the Australian Dolphins team and is looking promising going into the 2020 Olympics. Outside the pool, Throssell has been a valuable member of the association, inspiring the next generation as a positive role-model.

Rounding out the Swimming WA Ambassador team for the 2019/20 season is Ashton Brinkworth (UWA-West Coast, c: Michael Palfery, WAIS). Brinkworth who recently won his first Australian Title in the Men’s 50m Freestyle at the 2019 Hancock Prospecting Short Course Championships, has well and truly established himself as one of the fastest swimmers in the world. After going from strength to strength since graduating from Hale in 2016, Brinkworth joins Swimming WA with a wealth of experience with leadership and will be an inspiration to younger swimmers. Brinkworth, who is an incredibly humble and approachable young man will provide the Swimming WA community with yet another friendly face to approach on the pool deck.

For the 2019/20 season, the Swimming WA ambassadors will be engaging in a number of activities including Splash & Dash events, working with our key Sponsors and Partners, attending key Swimming WA events, engaging with Clubs and promoting the Swimming WA message.

Yet again, Swimming WA is thrilled with the Ambassadors for the 2019/20 season and is looking forward to working closely with Clubs and Members.
