Margaret River Aquatic Club welcomes swimmers to newly renovated facility

07 June 2024

The Margaret River Aquatic Club (MRAC) is set to start this Monday, following the extensive renovation of its pool and facilities. The centre, which has been closed since late 2022, underwent significant reconstruction. The building has been rebuilt from the ground up, resulting in a new and functional aquatic centre ready for the community.

To celebrate the reopening, Swimming WA and the MRAC committee will host an open night on Wednesday, 12 June, inviting parents to meet the committee members and discuss any questions they may have. This event also serves as a platform for gathering community input for the club’s future strategic planning.

MRAC will be offering training sessions four days a week. Training will be available on Wednesday and Friday mornings, as well as on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

"Joining MRAC is more than just swimming laps; it's about being part of a supportive community where you can push your limits, make friends, and achieve your goals in and out of the water," said Flynn Winstanley, the club's new coach and a former competitive swimmer at Margaret River.

"I used to swim at the club from 2014 to 2018. Swimming competitively during that time was always a highlight. To be able to show what you have achieved after so much hard work in the water is endlessly rewarding.

"I wanted to join the club as a coach because of the positive impact swimming and my swim coach had on my physical and mental development as a teenager.

"I have a passion to help the next generation of swimmers reach their potential, and coaching is the best way to do it. I hope to bring back the opportunities that squad swimming and competition give to the community and grow the club to new heights."
