To prioritise the mental well-being of athletes, the Hancock Prospecting State Championships introduces the Nexia Quiet Space, a sanctuary nestled in the room behind the stands above the dive pool. This initiative, made possible through the generous support of Nexia, aims to provide swimmers with a quiet and calm space when the pressures of competition become overwhelming.
Equipped with bean bags, chairs, earmuffs, tactile toys, and a colouring-in table, the room is designed to cater to various sensory needs and offer a calm environment for relaxation.
The primary objective of the Nexia Quiet Space is to serve as a refuge for swimmers who may feel overwhelmed, giving them an opportunity to regroup and find comfort without straying far from the pool. Importantly, the space is open for use by anyone attending the championships, and users are encouraged to make use of it for as little or as long as needed within the specified booking times below.
While promoting inclusivity, organisers emphasise the importance of maintaining a respectful and safe environment within the Nexia Quiet Space.
