Reder and Saffy Named to Para Swimming Development Squad

01 July 2021

Swimming WA would like congratulate Tegan Reder (UWA West Coast) and Alex Saffy (Bunbury), as well as their coaches, Rob Palfery and Elisha Hunt, for their selection on Swimming Australia's National Para Swimming Development Squad.

Selection to the squad is an integral part of the Para Swimming Performance Pathway. The Para Swimming Performance Pathway is designed to prepare swimmers for transition to the Senior National Team and to achieve high performance success in and out of the pool. The athletes selected in the squad will have access to a range of workshops and camp activities that will see them supported on their journey to the Senior National Team.

Selection in the squad comes off the back of solid campaigns for both Reder and Saffy at the 2021 Australian Swimming Trials in Adelaide. In the Multi-Class Men's 100m Butterfly, Saffy swam under the Paralympic qualifying time for the S9 classification, touching in a time of 1:00.27. In the Multi-Class Women's 100m Breaststroke, Reder dropped over four seconds on her entry time, to place fourth in a highly competitive field.

Congratulations to Tegan and Alex on their selection.
