Rockingham wins Healthway's Healthy Club of the Year!

21 June 2024

Rockingham Swimming Club (RSC) has been named the Healthway Healthy Club of the Year, earning a brand new equipment cage.

Swimming WA, in partnership with Healthway, introduced this award as part of the Fuel to Go and Play Club Excellence (CX) Program.

By participating in the CX Program, clubs like RSC demonstrate their dedication not only to competitive success but also to encourage a healthy, inclusive environment for all members. The program helps clubs improve their administrative practices and positions them as contenders for the Healthy Club of the Year title.

"We are incredibly proud and honoured to win the Healthway Healthy Club Award,” said the President of RSC, Karen Williams.

“This award reflects all the hard work and commitment of our members, coaches, and committee in promoting health and well-being within our club and our community.

“The highlight of participating in the Excellence Program was seeing the tangible and positive impact of our initiatives on our club and community. Each milestone was a celebration, as it validated our continuous improvement and progress. Achieving our Gold milestone was the cherry on top!

“The Program's structured approach allowed us to set realistic and achievable goals to improve every facet of our club, both on pool deck and behind the scenes. It has significantly helped our club members by embedding healthy habits into our club culture through a focus on training and education. This has been instrumental in guiding us to change policies, improve communication, implement mental health support systems, and introduce educational initiatives.

“We are planning to give the cage to our Senior Squads - Nationals, Stingrays, and State Performance. Their cage is well used and due for an upgrade”.

Mark Trainer, RSC Development Coach, added, "Thank you to Swimming WA, Healthway, and Fuel to Go & Play. This is an absolutely awesome achievement.”

The next iteration of the CX Program will commence on October 1, 2024, and run until May 30, 2025. More information about the Program can be found here.
