WA athletes surpass the halfway mark

Leading off night three of the 2021 Australian Swimming Trials was Blair Evans (UWA West Coast) in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley. Evans finished seventh with a time of 2:15.62, whilst Lily Beste (Rockingham) raced in the B Final finishing in 12th place.

 

Hitting the pool for the third night in a row was Alex Saffy (Bunbury) in the Multi-Class Men’s 200m Individual Medley. Saffy clocked a time of 2:22.45, dropping an enormous 10 seconds from his entry time and finishing in fifth place.

 

With three Western Australian representatives in the race, all eyes were on the pool for the Men’s 200m Butterfly. Nicholas Brown (UWA West Coast) finished in fourth place with a 1:57.70, with Kieren Pollard (North Coast) not far behind in fifth with a 1:58.15. Pollard’s North Coast teammate and Australian Trials final debutant, Kyle Lee, touched the wall in seventh with a 2:00.35.

 

In the Women’s 200m Freestyle, Brianna Throssell (UWA West Coast) finished eighth with a time of 1:57.66. Backing up from last night’s Olympic qualifying swim, Tamsin Cook (UWA West Coast) took to the B Final, clocking a time of 1:56.95.

 

Adam Sudlow (UWA West Coast) battled it out in the final race of the night, finishing just outside of his personal best with a time of 8:09.98 in the Men's 800m Freestyle.
