Junior Pan Pacific Championships capped off with Australia in third place, securing four gold, eight silver and bronze medals after four days of competition from August 21-24.
Inez Miller delivered an exceptional performance on the first day of the competition, securing a gold medal in the women’s 200m freestyle with an incredible time of 1:57.72.
Miller continued her medal streak in both the women's 4x100m freestyle and medley relays, securing silver in both and earning bronze in the women's 4x200m freestyle relay. In the women's 100m freestyle B final, she achieved first place, setting a new personal best of 55.03.
The second gold came on day three in the men's 4x100m freestyle, featuring Xavier Collins in the third leg, hitting a stunning split of 49.79, in a team with Joshua Conias, Thomas Booth and Marcus Da Silva. Collins didn’t stop there - he also smashed his personal best in the men’s 100m freestyle B final, clocking 50.54 for a 1st place finish.
Our WA boys, Collins, Tex Cross and Lucas Fackerell, swam an epic relay in the men's 4x200m freestyle relay with Da Silva anchoring; the boys finished with a time of 7:17.66.
In the men's 400m freestyle, Cross (5th) and Fackerell (7th) put in solid swims. Cross (8th) also competed in the men's 800m freestyle alongside Braden Fyneman (12th).
Sean Alcorn secured first place in the men's 200m butterfly B final with a time of 2:01.32. Sylvia Czajko hit a fast 25.77 in the 50m freestyle B final, claiming second place.
Jackson Anderson put up a strong fight in the men's 100m freestyle B final, finishing fourth.
Isabel Sheldrick competed in the A final of the women's 200m backstroke, placing eighth with a time of 2:18.10.
The success of the Junior Dolphins was supported by the coaches including WA's own Ryan Steenkamp, Rob Palfery and Inside WAIS Strength & Conditioning coach Jemma Bassi.
Five incredible WA Technical Officials, including Nick Short, Kim Blake, Katherine Hurford, Mhairi Doherty and Neil Doherty, were part of the officiating team for the Championships.
