Anderson’s amazing second place finish on day 5 of Trials

Day 5 of the World Championship Trials brought forth 10 of our WA swimmers take to the finals.

Iona Anderson (Breakers/WAIS) claimed at well-deserved second place in the women's 50m backstroke, with a swift time of 28.03. In the B final, Isabel Sheldrick (St Hilda’s, c: Deb Jones) secured a sixth place finish.

Joshua Yong (UWA West Coast/WAIS) delivered a strong performance in the men's 200m breaststroke, finishing in fourth place clocking in at a time of 2:13.22. Adam Chillingworth (Peel Aquatic, c: Zoe Baker) shone in the B final, clinching a first place spot.

Kayla Van De Merwe (c: Zoe Baker), who is from the UK training with Peel Aquatic, triumphed in the 200m breaststroke B final, securing a first place finish.

In the timed final of the men's 1500m freestyle, our North Coast swimmers gave a remarkable performance. Kyle Lee (North Coast, c: Ian Mills) achieved an impressive personal best, slashing 8 seconds off his time to touch the wall at 15:24.40. Not far behind, Jack Wilson (North Coast, c: Ian Mills) finished in ninth place, improving his personal best by 6 seconds. Wilson's exceptional performance positions him well for consideration in the relay selection for Open Water Worlds. Other WA swimmers in the event included Robert Bonsall (10th), Adam Sudlow (11th), and Alessio Marci (16th).
