Bio Island Australian Junior Excellence

06 May 2019

Swimming Australia is thrilled to announce that Bio Island will support our country’s next wave of swimmers, after signing on as the official naming rights partner of the Australian Junior Excellence (JX) Programme until the end of 2022.

As our sport’s current nutrition partner, Bio Island’s commitment to expand and significantly increase its investment will enable Swimming Australia to recognise performances to encourage and inspire the next generation of competitive swimmers.

Delivered in conjunction with all states and territories, junior swimmers will now have access to a host of elite role models, including the programme’s national ambassadors – Australian Dolphins Shayna Jack and Jack McLoughlin – and receive consistent merchandise and congratulatory messages of their achievements via Swim Central.

The Bio Island Australian Junior Excellence Programme

The Junior Excellence Programme was established in 2007 to recognise, reward and incentivise junior swimmers who are on a key part of their swimming journey, learning and refining as they develop into senior swimmers. Each year Swimming Australia releases the JX criteria and standards for the forthcoming season which swimmers, parents and coaches can use to as targets throughout the year.

The programme was set up to allow nine to thirteen-year-old swimmers to achieve a time standard that is a reflection of their performance as to their maturation level. Once swimmers are over the age of 13-years their performance standard, assessment and recognition becomes State and National Championships.

All ‘approved’ swim Meet results are loaded into the Swimming Australia’s Swim Central and used towards an overall award for each individual swimmer. At the end of the qualification period, Swimming Australia will publish the JX results on the website.

To qualify for the Bio Island Australian JX programme, swimmers are required to be a Member of Swimming WA, aged from nine to thirteen years and achieve one of the qualifying criteria set by Swimming Australia within the qualifying time frame. Qualifying criteria is based off a percentage of the national qualifying times.
