Come Meet Swimming WA!

18 December 2019

A warm welcome to the newest member of the Swimming WA team; Luke Gavin. Stepping into the specially created Athlete and Coach Development Manager role, Luke will be working alongside the Programme and Events Officer, Will Rollo. This dynamic duo will become the ground operations staff for Swimming WA pool meets!

Luke is originally from Melbourne and, having relocated with his young family to WA, will be calling Bicton home. In Luke’s early years he was well entrenched in performance pathways as an athlete across swimming, surf lifesaving and water polo representing Australia on the international stage over 6 years.

Out of the pool Luke has developed an impressive resume working for Life Saving Victoria, and at prestigious private schools as Head Swim Coach in Melbourne. Fortunately for our Association, Luke holds Swimming Australia Advanced Coaching accreditation, and has many years of swim school teaching and management under his belt.

Luke’s favourite part of what he does is seeing athletes grow and develop to their full potential. Due to the relationships required within sport, Luke has enjoyed developing and values the friendships he has gained along the road as well.

In the coming weeks Luke will be in and around pool deck for Swimming WA Meets. Be sure to pull him aside for a quick chat on all thing’s athlete and coaching. If you don’t catch him around pool deck in the coming months, you will find him hitting the beach with his family and maybe doing a spot of fishing!
