17 June 2023

As the World Championship Trials entered its fourth day, the excitement built into the night after some solid heat swims from our WA athletes. Let's dive into the highlights of day 4:

Talara-Jade Dixon (St Hilda’s, c: Deb Jones) proved to be a force to be reckoned with in the women's 50m breaststroke, delivering an outstanding performance. Touching the wall in second place with a blazing time of 31.19. The race was incredibly tight, with Dixon only 0.05 seconds behind first place. Crystal Edwards (Scarborough Beach, c: Drew Corrigan) also secured a fifth place finish in the B final.

Iona Anderson (Breakers/WAIS) took on the 200m backstroke event, securing a hard-fought sixth place finish in the intense finals’ battlefield.

In the 200m IM B final, Kieran Pollard (North Coast, c: Ian Mills) secured a first place finish, clocking in at an outstanding time of 2:01.96. Not only did he dominate the B final but he also managed to shave a bit of his time from the morning swim.

Ashton Brinkworth (UWA West Coast/WAIS) finished eighth place in the men’s 100m freestyle B final, showing relentless effort and commitment as he raced against tough competition.

Peel Aquatic’s Filip Fraczek-Krygier (c: Zoe Baker) secured an eighth place finish and Rosie Wilson (15th) competed in the women’s 800m freestyle timed final in the morning.

As the competition continues today, our WA athletes prepare to take on the women's 100m freestyle, men's 200m breaststroke, women's 50m backstroke and men's 1500m freestyle. Let’s go WA!
