Junior Dolphins has undergone a “facelift” for season 2019/20. With revamped Carnival games and a Junior Dolphin squad audit completed, the programme is evolving to better service our youngest Members.
Junior Dolphin Carnivals
Junior Dolphin Carnivals are an exciting initiative from Swimming WA in which children aged five to eight years can have fun with their friends and practice their swimming in a safe, social and non-competitive environment. A Carnival is designed to run for a maximum of one hour, comprised of a series of fun team-based activities and races with a strong focus on participation, not competition. A carnival consists of;
- a whole group warmup;
- a round-robin of activities and games;
- a whole group game or relay; and
- a wrap-up (including discussion about the Junior Dolphin Swimming WA Membership and how participants can join their local Club.)
Swimming Instructors or Coaches can undertake a Swimming WA endorsed Junior Dolphin training course to build their capacity to facilitate the carnivals and development of young swimmers.
Junior Dolphin Membership
Junior Dolphin carnivals are aimed at children aged five to eight, who can take part in the carnival for free. These participants are also eligible for a Junior Dolphin Membership. These Memberships are priced competitively low, to reflect the Members’ reduced number of Club practice sessions and access to Swimming WA activities.

Junior Dolphin Squads
Junior Dolphin Squads are entry-level squad programmes run by Swimming WA Clubs. These programmes are currently being reviewed and guidelines as to the expectations of squads utilising the Junior Dolphin branding will be released in due course.
