New World Aquatics rules are now in force at Australian events

21 March 2023

National swimmers from around Western Australia are gearing up for the 2023 Australian Age Championships and the 2023 Australian Swimming Championships next month, and with them comes a new set of rules to adhere to.

World Aquatics (formerly known as FINA) has recently updated their rules, including changes to backstroke, which will be implemented at all events in Australia.

To ensure that everyone is fully briefed about these changes, Swimming Australia will be hosting two webinars:

Officials Webinar - World Aquatics Rule Changes

Athlete & Coach Webinar - World Aquatics Rule Changes

Both webinars will be delivered by Karen Macleod and Ryan Arblaster, who will provide a briefing and answer questions.

We encourage coaches and officials to circulate this information within their communities to ensure that all members of the swimming community are aware of these changes. By working together, we can ensure a safe and successful swimming season for everyone. So, mark your calendars for the upcoming webinars and get ready to dive into the new rules of swimming!
