Swimming WA's Spirit Award

11 December 2020

Swimming WA is pleased to announce a new initiative which will be on offer throughout the 2020 Hancock Prospecting Western Australian Swimming Championships!

This year there will be $1000 EVO Sportwear Voucher on offer each day for the Club which represents Swimming WA's values the most (Safety, Passion, Integrity, Respect, Inclusion & Teamwork), the award has been dubbed the "Spirit Award".

A selection panel will select the winning club and announce that club after each day of competition.

The award was created to build a stronger sense of community within Swimming WA Clubs and promote the fantastic performances throughout the State. In addition, the award will help build a more vibrant atmosphere at Meets, simulating an environment that athletes will face at National Events.

Swimming WA Athlete and Coach Development Manager, Luke Gavin, said “the inclusion of the Spirit Award will be instrumental in the development of Swimming throughout the State. State Championships can often be daunting for Swimmers, and we are hoping with the support of Swimming WA Clubs, athletes will be able to stand-up on the big stage and better prepare themselves to take on the rest of Australia.”

In addition, Swimming WA will be getting into the holiday mood by promoting Clubs to dress in Christmas theme on the final day of competition, Tuesday, 22 December. The best dressed Club will be awarded the final Spirit Award for the Championships.

The 2020 Hancock Prospecting Western Australian Swimming Championships will take place at HBF Stadium from 18 – 22 December. Spectators will be able to watch the Meet at the Venue or via the live stream on SwimTV.

Swimming WA is looking forward to seeing all Swimmers, Coaches and Spectators getting behind their athletes throughout the Championships.
