WA Swimmers out in Full Force

06 December 2020

History was made over the weekend as 719 athletes converged on HBF Stadium for the SunSmart Long Course Qualifying Meet #2, to compete in one of the largest Swimming WA competitions of all time.

The Swimming WA community has once again shown its amazing resilience, recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic incredibly.

With the Swimmers representing 43 Clubs, from Albany to Broome, it was fantastic to see the Swimming WA community continuing to flourish as they came together to prepare for the 2020 Hancock Prospecting Western Australian Swimming Championships.

With multiple break-out performances including Sean Campbell (Broome, c: Toni Smith) who took an incredible 20 seconds off his 100m Butterfly PB to finish in 1:07.90 just behind Sam Carmignani (Breakers, c: Harry Clark), it is an exciting time to be a WA Swimmer.

Once again, Swimming WA would like to thank our wonderful Technical Officials who work tirelessly to ensure the success of events such as this weekend. The Officiating community in Western Australia is the best in the country and without their ongoing support, Swimming WA would not be able to continue to prosper.

With the conclusion of the SunSmart Qualifying Meet #2, swimmers and coaches will now turn their attention towards the 2020 Hancock Prospecting Western Australian Swimming Championships set to be held at HBF Stadium from 18-22 December. With several Olympic hopefuls ready to race, as well as, some of Australia’s rising stars, it will certainly be an event not to miss. Stay tuned for some exciting announcements in the coming days.
