The 2020 Australian Open Water Swimming (OWS) National Championships were held in Adelaide from 25 to 27 January at Brighton Beach.

The Championships represent Australia’s pinnacle open water swimming event and showcased the country’s top and emerging open water swimming talent. This event forms a key part of the criteria to gain selection for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and our Western Australian representatives performed very well with Nicholas Rollo (Perth City), Jack Wilson (North Coast), Kyle Lee (Bunbury) and Kaiden Richings (Bunbury) all taking out placings in the top 3 in two events each.

Both Nicholas Rollo and Jack Wilson as well as their respective coaches Matt Magee and Ian Mills have been selected on the Australian Team to represent the country at the 2020 Fina World Marathon Series Round 1 in Doha Qatar.  The event will take place on Saturday 15 February and will double as the Olympic Qualification event for the Australian team with the top 2 Australian men being selected to take part in the Olympic Qualification event in Fukuoka, Japan.

With the focus now set on selection for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Australian Team, all of Western Australia is getting behind Nicholas and Jack.

Congratulations to all of our Western Australian swimmers!
