Westside Christchurch Aquatic swimmers, Bianca Monaco and Xavier Collins (c: Jon Harrison), have won the Open Water Swimming (OWS) Elite Series, cementing their positions as the best swimmers in Western Australia across the first three OWS rounds.

The Open Water Swimming Elite Series, recognised as a high-performance category, culminated with the first three State Championships rounds held at Leighton, Bunbury, and Coogee.

The series began at Leighton with a grueling 7.5km state championship. In this challenging race, Bianca Monaco led the pack of females and won gold, while Xavier Collins secured sixth place and emerged as the winner in the 17/18 years category.

Moving on to Bunbury for the 5km State Championships, Monaco continued her champion title, securing a gold medal. Xavier Collins clinched fifth place overall and once again claimed victory in the 17/18 years category, achieving a time well under the one-hour mark.

The State Championship rounds concluded at Coogee with the challenging 10km event. Monaco dominated the race, emerging once again as top female. Xavier Collins secured second position among WA males and won first place in the 17/18 years category.

For their outstanding achievements in the Open Water Swimming Elite Series, both Monaco and Collins will be presented with the Elite Series Award along with a well-deserved $500 prize.
