As discussed at the previous SWA Club Presidents’ Forums (Regional and Metropolitan), the SWA Board received advice from HHG Legal Group in November 2018 that the current SWA Constitution does not meet the requirements of the new Associations Act. The Associations Incorporation Act 2015 (WA) will come into effect from 1 July 2019. Like many of our Clubs, the SWA Board has been working hard to align the Association’s Constitution and governance practices with the requirements of the new Act and with the principles as outlined by the Australian Sport Commission (Sport Australia) Sports Governance Principles.
The Board is convening a Special General Meeting in accordance with Rule 17.1 of the SWA Constitution for the purpose of approval of changes to the Constitution by way of a Special Resolution. The Delegate will be requested to vote on the Special Resolution with the outcome of the vote announced at a Special General Meeting to be held on 11 May 2019.
