
Day three of the Australian Swimming Championships has witnessed some solid performances in the finals. Ashton Brinkworth (UWA West Coast/WAIS) set the pace in the Men’s 50m Freestyle, culminating in an impressive time of 22.59, securing the sixth spot in Australia's rankings for the event. In the B-Final, Jamie Anderson (Arena, c: Simon Redmond) missed third place by a hair’s breadth, clocking in at 23.14 and tying with Queensland’s Andrew Newling, while Tyrone Crees (Southside Penrhos Wesley, c: Nick Watkins) finished in eighth place.
Alex Saffy S10 (Bunbury/AIS, c: Martin Roberts) has proven his mettle in the pool, concluding seventh in the Men’s 100m Freestyle Multi-Class with a time of 55.85. In the B-Final, Ben Popham S9 (Arena, c: Simon Redmond) delivered an incredible performance, bagging second place with a time of 57.22, trimming off 0.15 seconds from his personal best at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
Alyssa Burgess (Arena, c: Simon Redmond) attained ninth place in the Women’s 50m Backstroke, clocking in at 29.21, while Neeve Fasher (St Hilda’s, c: Deb Jones) secured the tenth spot in the B-Final. Damian Badenhorst (Rockingham/WAIS) showcased his skills in the Men’s 100m Butterfly, making it to the top ten nationally with a time of 53.57. Jayden Yong (UWA West Coast/WAIS) acquired the eighth spot in the Age Finals, while Sean Alcorn (Peel Aquatic, c: Zoe Baker) finished sixth in the B-Finals.
Liam Smith S9 (UWA West Coast, c: Rob Palfery) delivered a solid performance, securing the tenth spot in the Men’s 50m Backstroke Multi-Class with a time of 34.41. Maeve McKenna (St Hilda’s, c: Deb Jones) secured sixth position in the Women’s 200m Breaststroke Age Final, finishing with an impressive time of 2:38.56, while Anna Monaghan (Westside Christchurch, c: Jon Harrison) clinched the tenth place in the B-Final.
In the Men's 100m Backstroke Age Final, Filip Fraczek-Krygier (Peel Aquatic, c: Zoe Baker) touched the wall with a fast time of 59.64, in eighth place. The B-Final was very exciting, with Thomas Prowton (Arena, c: Simon Redmond) securing third place and James Hansford (St Hilda's, c: Deb Jones) coming in seventh. Meanwhile, in the Women's 50m Butterfly Age Final, Crystal Edwards (Scarborough Beach, c: Cam Hawthorn) finished in sixth place, touching the wall at 27.66.
Charlotte Ericksen (Arena, c: Simon Redmond) placed seventh in the Women’s 400m Freestyle Age Final with a time of 4:26.81. Adriano Todoro (Scarborough Beach, c: Cam Hawthorn) delivered another fantastic result, securing the eighth spot in the Men’s 200m IM Age Final with a time of 2:09.55.
