Upgrades Achieved Through Collaboration

19 July 2019

Swimming WA would like to congratulate the Victoria Park Swimming Club who have been hard at work for over 12 months securing funding to upgrade the starting platforms and install a submersible dividing wall at its training venue, Aqualife Centre. On Tuesday, 16 July, the Town of Victoria Park Council passed a motion to sign the Grant Funding agreement with Sport Australia to allow for these alterations. The Club’s two young paraswimmers, Tegan and Amy,  attended the meeting and both gave moving presentations in support of the new platforms and swim wall and how this exciting infrastructure investment can help them create a more inclusive Club.

This positive change was achieved through the collaborative efforts of fellow metropolitan Clubs, Riverton Aquanauts and UWA West Coast, who assisted Victoria Park Swimming Club in the process by providing letters of support.

This Federal Government grant enables the community and Club to access more of the water space. This project was one of 102 recipients in Western Australia, receiving the 13thhighest amount.

Swimming WA looks forward to seeing these additions in action at the future Victoria Park Spring into Summer Carnivals.

Well done to the Victoria Park Swimming Club and their Club Committee for their leadership and initiative in this project. This is certainly a great outcome for swimming in WA.
