Stephen Robinson and Jill Dawson celebrated in Australia Day Honours List

26 January 2024

Swimming WA extends its congratulations to Superfins Club Treasurer, Mr. Stephen Daniel Robinson, and Former Quairading Swimming Club Treasurer, Mrs. Jill Maree Dawson, who have received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division.

Robinson became a pivotal figure at Superfins in August 2017 when his son, Keith, joined the club. The dynamic duo, celebrated for their active participation in the Swimming WA Open Water Swimming Series, successfully completed a Rottnest Channel crossing together in a four-person team.

Robinson, an economist employed by WA gold miner Westgold Resource Ltd, has seamlessly blended his professional insight with a commitment to community service. His involvement in Superfins spans roles such as Pantomime Writer and Director, organising various open swimming activities, and coordinating team entries for the annual Busselton Jetty Swim. Beyond the pool, Robinson has left an indelible mark on community organisations, having served on the boards of the Centre for Cerebral Palsy (now the Ability Centre), Woodlands Primary School and he chaired an Aboriginal charitable organisation.

Jill Dawson has earned her OAM for distinguished service to the community through various roles, particularly as the Treasurer of the Quairading Swimming Club. Dawson's commitment to community service extends beyond swimming. Her contributions to numerous committees, councils, and clubs show a lifelong commitment to the community in WA.
