Swimming WA Awards of Excellence finalists announced

Excitement is building as the stage is set for the 2023 Swimming WA Awards of Excellence, where the swimming community awaits the revelation of this year's winners. Held at Beaumonde on the Point, nestled by the serene Swan River, this event promises to be an evening filled with suspense and celebration. The finalists are listed below.

 

Sir Frank Beaurepaire Trophy

The Sir Frank Beaurepaire Trophy awards the Western Australian resident swimmer who has the highest world ranking as of 30 September each year.

Congratulations to the following finalists:

  • Ben Popham (Arena)
  • Alex Saffy (Bunbury)
  • Joshua Yong (UWA West Coast)

 

WA Patrons Trophy

The Swimming WA Patron’s Trophy is awarded to an outstanding West Australian pool or open water swimmer for their performance both in and out of competition, at benchmark international competitions: Olympics, World Championships or Pan Pacific Swimming Championships.

Coach of the Year

The Coach of the Year is awarded to a resident Western Australian accredited coach, who returns the most outstanding results during the defined period.

  • Rob Palfery (UWA West Coast)

 

Swimmers’ Swimmer of the Year

This award is a peer selected award by swimmers.

Age Swimmer of the Year

The Age Swimmer of the Year is awarded to the resident Western Australian swimmer, substantively aged between 13 years to 16 years for girls and 14 years to 18 years for boys who returns the most outstanding performance during the defined period.

Lyn McClements Swimmer of the Year

The Lyn McClements Swimmer of the Year is awarded to the resident Western Australian able-bodied pool swimmer who returns the most outstanding performances during the defined period.

Shelley Taylor- Smith Medal

The Shelley Taylor-Smith Swimmer of the Year is awarded to the resident Western Australian swimmer who returns the most outstanding performances during the defined period.

Elizabeth Edmonson Medal

The Elizabeth Edmondson Swimmer of the Year is awarded to the resident Western Australian para-swimmer who returns the most outstanding performance during the defined period.
