Swimming WA welcomes Singapore athletes to State Championships with support from DLGSC

11 January 2024

Swimming WA is grateful to the Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) for its generous support in facilitating the participation of international athletes at the 2023 Hancock Prospecting State Championships.

In a collaborative effort, Swimming WA successfully welcomed a total of twenty-eight visiting age group athletes, from educational institutions such as Tanglin Trust School, Nexus International School, and United World College in Singapore. These athletes competed in both individual races and relay events, contributing to the quality of the competition and the atmosphere of the Championships.

The Championships drew talent from right across WA, excited by the opportunity of competing with some of the best young swimmers from Singapore. During their stay, our guests had the opportunity to explore Western Australia's scenic beauty, spending quality time at the beach and visiting iconic landmarks such as Scarborough’s beach front.

Looking ahead, Swimming WA extends an open invitation to interstate and international athletes. This offers WA athletes a chance not only to compete alongside visitors but also build lasting relationships with them.
